The Nease Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with a 57-48 victory over Columbia. The victory was all the more spectacular given Nease's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 312th, while Columbia is ranked 111th).
Nease found their leader in underclassman Audrey Rollins, who scored 22 points. That's the first time this season that Rollins scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sage Pytel, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
AYESHA BROXEY and MARIAH COX certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. BROXEY scored 17 points along with four steals, while COX scored eight points along with six steals. The matchup was BROXEY's third in a row with at least ten points.
Columbia struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Nease racked up 14 assists.
The victory makes it two in a row for Nease and bumps their season record up to 4-5. As for Columbia, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Nease will head out on the road to face off against Riverside at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Columbia will be home for the holidays to greet St. Augustine at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Augustine has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 196 points over their last three matches.
