The Athens Warriors will take on the Auburn Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Athens will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Athens and Illini Bluffs, and Athens kept the tradition alive. The Warriors came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 9-6 on Monday.

Davis Ishmael made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Athens is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise. Ishmael was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.
Ishmael wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Josh Harris, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That double was Harris' first of the season. Another was Zakk Edwards, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Auburn). They put the hurt on Tri-City with a sharp 14-4 win on Monday. The Trojans not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 30, 2024.
Like Athens, Auburn also got a great game from a two-way player: Peyton Campbell. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Campbell has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Campbell is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Ledger Munds was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Tucker Dennis was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base.
Athens' record now sits at 4-2. As for Auburn, their record is now 5-2.
Athens couldn't quite finish off Auburn when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 9-7. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
