The losing side was boosted by Liz Benally, who posted four points and ten boards. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gigi Trujillo, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Fort Lupton earned a 44-33 win over Arrupe Jesuit on Tuesday.
Fort Lupton's win came from a few key players that Jefferson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaylen Becerra, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards. Fort Lupton is undefeated when Becerra posts ten or more rebounds, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kianna Lenox, who had five points along with ten boards and four steals.
Fort Lupton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 11 consecutive matchups.
Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Fort Lupton, their record now sits at 10-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Jefferson has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 23.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Fort Lupton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Jefferson came up short against Fort Lupton in their previous meeting back in February of 2025, falling 59-52. Can the Saints avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
