The Southern Lee Cavaliers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Lee County 17-14. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but Southern Lee was the better team in the second half.
Southern Lee's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robbie Sims, who rushed for 100 yards on only 12 carries. Southern Lee also got a significant boost from Tyrice Douglas, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 90 yards.
Southern Lee's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Lee County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Southern Lee will head out on the road to face off against Fike at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fike will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. Lee County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
