The Andrean Fighting 59ers will take on the Alexandria-Monroe Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Andrean comes in on four and Alexandria-Monroe on nine.
Andrean is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Knox get on the board and left with a 5-0 win.
Not much got past Sadie Drousias, who gave up just a hit to keep Knox off the board.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lanie Doukas, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Grasha, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Alexandria-Monroe hadn't beaten Lapel on the road since May 23, 2022 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Tigers blew past the Bulldogs 18-3. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 13 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Brynlee Humphries made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Riley Thomas was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Kinley Webb, who went 3-for-4 with one home run and three runs.
Alexandria-Monroe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lapel only posted an OBP of .273.
Andrean's record is now 19-7. As for Alexandria-Monroe, their record now sits at 20-1.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Andrean hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .405. However, it's not like Alexandria-Monroe struggles in that department as they've averaged .433. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
