Collins Hill is 2-8 against Mountain View since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Collins Hill Eagles will take on the Mountain View Bears at 6:00 p.m. Collins Hill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Collins Hill came into this matchup off a tough 17-run loss on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Buford by a score of 4-2 on Saturday. The Eagles just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.
Noah Alvarado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Collins Hill saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Borahn Ly, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mountain View, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Dacula a 1-0 shutout on Friday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
The result came thanks to Andrew Brech's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Mountain View is undefeated when he allows at most two walks, but 1-5 otherwise.
Collins Hill's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Mountain View, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
Collins Hill's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's game. Collins Hill has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Mountain View, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Collins Hill continue to outrun the ball?
Collins Hill couldn't quite finish off Mountain View in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can Collins Hill avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
