Mountain Ridge is 0-4 against Mountain View since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Mountain Ridge Sentinels will be staying on the road to face off against the Mountain View Bruins at 2:30 p.m. on December 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Mountain Ridge is ranked 52nd, while Mountain View is ranked 43rd).
Mountain Ridge struggled with threes last Friday (Farmington had five more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Mountain Ridge received a tough blow as they fell 67-48 to Farmington. Mountain Ridge has struggled against Farmington recently, as their game last Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite their defeat, Mountain Ridge saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Spencer Krainich, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. That's the first time this season that Krainich pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Sylvester, who scored 13 points.
Mountain Ridge struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Mountain View waltzed into their matchup Wednesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 63-49 victory over East. That 63-49 margin sets a new team best for Mountain View this season.
Conner Fairbanks was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Mountain View's points. Another player making a difference was Simeon Suguturaga, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Mountain Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Mountain View, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Wednesday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Mountain Ridge have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 27.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Mountain View, though, as they've been averaging only 24.2 rebounds per game. Given Mountain Ridge's sizeable advantage in that area, Mountain View will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mountain Ridge lost to Mountain View on the road by a decisive 68-53 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2021. Can Mountain Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
