Baseball Game Preview: Cimarron Bluejays vs. Liberal Redskins

The Cimarron Bluejays will take on the Liberal Redskins at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Cimarron has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Cimarron took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Scott 4-3.

Colby Wilson made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Cimarron is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4-2 otherwise. Wilson was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Wilson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Simon, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Liberal let Garden City stack five runs on them in the first inning on Tuesday but luckily Liberal prevailed anyway. The Redskins had just enough and edged out the Buffaloes 9-8.

Kye Morris and Alexander Schwindt did most of the damage at the plate: Morris went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Schwindt went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Schwindt has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Ethan Olmstead, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Cimarron is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5-2 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.33 runs across that stretch. As for Liberal, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-8.
