Washington-Marion has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on The DeRidder Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Washington-Marion will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 244th, while DeRidder is ranked 106th).
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought game, but Washington-Marion had to settle for a 30-28 loss against LaGrange.
Meanwhile, DeRidder put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Rayne, posting a 49-20 victory at home.
Reed Williams went supernova for DeRidder, rushing for 177 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Jatari Harris got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was DeRidder's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Rayne's QB won't forget Jayden Aswell anytime soon given Aswell sacked him four times.
Washington-Marion's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 8.5 points per game. As for DeRidder, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Washington-Marion was taken down by DeRidder 56-16 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Washington-Marion, Ronnie Crosby (who rushed for 181 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
