Imperial is 8-2 against the Scots since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Imperial Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Vincent Memorial Scots at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Imperial's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine contests.
Last Friday, Imperial was able to grind out a solid victory over the Wildcats, taking the game 61-48.
Imperial's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but David Scariano led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Marc Vitela, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Vincent Memorial ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They snuck past Calexico with a 64-58 victory. The victory was nothing new for Vincent Memorial as they're now sitting on three straight.
Vincent Memorial can attribute much of their success to Santiago Herrera, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 20 rebounds, and Pancho Tejada, who scored 17 points along with six assists and five steals. Tejada is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Jacobo Elias, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Imperial is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-15 record this season. As for Vincent Memorial, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Imperial have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.5% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Vincent Memorial struggles in that department as they've made 42.5% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Imperial was able to grind out a solid victory over the Scots in their previous matchup back in January, winning 60-52. Does Imperial have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
