Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Danville's Third in Last Four Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Danville had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory Braves a 14-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Autumn Muncy tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Allie Gunter, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Anderson, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Danville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in four consecutive contests.

Danville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Looking ahead, Danville will square off against Lebanon at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
