The Currituck County Knights lost to the Camden County Bruins back in January of 2023, but the Currituck County Knights didn't allow the Camden County Bruins the same satisfaction on Friday. Currituck County pulled ahead with a 55-54 photo finish over Camden County. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Currituck County.
Currituck County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damon Duke, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Jamie Dance, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Camden County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Noah Chopek, who scored 16 points. The match was Chopek's ninth in a row with at least ten points. J'ron Pendleton was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Currituck County's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Camden County, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Currituck County will challenge Manteo at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Manteo has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Camden County is on the road again on Monday and play against First Flight at 7:30 p.m. on January 8th.
