The Pewaukee Pirates will venture away from home to square off against the Greendale Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Pewaukee will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating New Berlin Eisenhower, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Pirates came out on top against the Lions by a score of 6-3 on Monday. While the Pirates didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Samantha Brewster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hailey Hutchens, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Harper Gould also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Greendale never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Pius XI Catholic on Monday. They blew past the Popes 14-1.
Ayla Krecklow was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Abby Brinkman was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Makayla Lewitzke was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Pewaukee pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Greendale, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Pewaukee might still be hurting after the 12-4 loss they got from Greendale in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
