The Covenant Christian Warriors will square off against the Indianapolis Lutheran Saints at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Indianapolis Lutheran will be up against a hot Covenant Christian squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Warriors blew past Speedway 16-2 on Wednesday.
Marissa Silva made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Silva was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Moriah Armstrong, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Braylin Boruff, who went 2-for-3 with three runs.
Covenant Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 8-3 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Indianapolis Lutheran entered their tilt with Indianapolis Bishop Chatard on Wednesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 7-1 victory.
Brooklyn Barger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Avery Langston was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia Hughes, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Covenant Christian's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-10. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Indianapolis Lutheran, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Covenant Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Indianapolis Lutheran struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Covenant Christian couldn't quite finish off Indianapolis Lutheran when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Will the Warriors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
