Timpanogos has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Payson Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Timpanogos fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Bruins on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Bruins 74-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, Timpanogos saw an underclassman step up: Jaxen Mccuistion scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Mccuistion is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Steven LaPray was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Payson pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Provo. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (57), Payson still had to take the loss.
Timpanogos has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season. As for Payson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.
Timpanogos suffered a grim 71-51 defeat to the Lions in their previous meeting back in January. Can Timpanogos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
