Baseball Recap: Key Has No Trouble Against Meade

Key was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Meade on Saturday. Everything went the Key Obezags' way against the Meade Mustangs as the Key Obezags made off with a 16-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Obezags considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Alex Neenan and John Fisher were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Neenan struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Fisher struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Neenan scored two runs and stole Four bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances, while Fisher scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4. Neenan is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Key got a massive performance out of Wyatt Dowton, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Angus Lunt-Woodward, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Key always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

The victory got Key back to even at 2-2. As for Meade, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Key will challenge Beth Tfiloh at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. Key is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season. As for Meade, they will be playing at home against Severn Run at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
