Volleyball Recap: Waldorf Takes a Loss

The Waldorf Mavericks lost 3-0 to the Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions on Tuesday.

Waldorf was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-22, 25-16.

Jazmin Cruz was a one-woman wrecking crew For Luis Valdez Leadership Academy. as she had 11 aces. Those 11 aces gave Cruz a new career-high.

Waldorf's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waldorf will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on More at 4:30 p.m. on October 17. As for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against KIPP Navigate College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
