Ocean Township is 1-9 against Shore Regional since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Ocean Township Spartans will be staying on the road to face off against the Shore Regional Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ocean Township posted their biggest win since December 28, 2023 on Thursday. They put the hurt on Monmouth Regional with a sharp 61-38 win.
Meanwhile, Shore Regional humbled Lakewood with a 64-13 victory. Given Shore Regional's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 156th, while Lakewood is ranked 388th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Shore Regional's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kimi Sayson led the charge by scoring eight points along with five steals. Sayson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Reese Fiore was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five steals.
Ocean Township's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. As for Shore Regional, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.
Everything went Ocean Township's way against Shore Regional in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as Ocean Township made off with a 54-28 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ocean Township since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
