The Eldorado Eagles will face off against the Christoval Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Eldorado is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Eldorado came out on top against Colorado on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run first inning. The Eagles walked away with a 9-5 win over the Wolves. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Jonnie Adame was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Malik Arispe, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, while Christoval put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Sonora. The Cougars were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Broncos. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Slayden Cross made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Cross was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
In other pitching news, Hollis Boyer looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Logan Malley, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Keegan Dean was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.
Christoval always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Eldorado's record is now 11-4. As for Christoval, their record now sits at 12-5-1.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eldorado has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Christoval struggles in that department as they've averaged .481. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eldorado came up short against Christoval in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 5-0. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
