Lincolnton has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Bunker Hill Bears at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Lincolnton beat Cherryville 51-41.
Lincolnton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Camellia Holland led the charge by scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. Sarah Rhyne was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Bunker Hill had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat West Iredell 61-27 at home. Bunker Hill's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Bunker Hill had a senior duo take command as MyKyiah Lafone scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and seven steals and Damireona Burch dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Burch has scored at least 25% of Bunker Hill's points. Another player making a difference was Jaydn Shoup, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Lincolnton's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4. As for Bunker Hill, their victory ended a 13-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-5.
Lincolnton couldn't quite finish off Bunker Hill when the teams last played back in January and fell 50-48. Can Lincolnton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
