The Champaign Central Maroons lost against the Alton Redbirds back in January of 2020, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Champaign Central took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Alton. Champaign Central has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Champaign Central's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Chris Bush, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds, and Aidyn Beck who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Bush scored a full 36.2% of Champaign Central's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Cayden Love, who scored eight points.
Champaign Central's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Alton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.
Champaign Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face Normal Community at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Normal Community has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Alton and Glenwood will face off at 4:30 p.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
