Plant extended their winning streak to five on Thursday, bumping them up to 8-1. They walked away with a 48-39 victory over the Carrollwood Day Patriots. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Patriots are ranked 268th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

As for Carrollwood Day, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5. The matchup marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Carrollwood Day still got an impressive performance from Dylan Flach, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 17 points and five boards. The Patriots are 3-1 when Flach posts 15 or more points, but 2-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Boland, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Plant didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-59 defeat against Lehigh on the 13th. As for Carrollwood Day, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-54 loss against Seffner Christian on the 12th.
