The Cypress Lake Panthers will face off against the Gulf Coast Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cypress Lake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Cypress Lake made easy work of Gateway and carried off a 21-7 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.
Audrina Westland was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Westland was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Cypress Lake let Kelley Kenner and Maisy Vogel run wild. Kenner went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Vogel went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Vogel a new career-high. Mackenzy Stouffer was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.
Cypress Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gateway only posted an OBP of .407.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Gulf Coast, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They came out on top against Estero on Monday by a score of 5-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).
Taylor Stalling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Gulf Coast saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jazmin Colosimo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Kadi Hodgson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Gulf Coast pushed their record up to 17-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Cypress Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 7-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cypress Lake has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gulf Coast struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cypress Lake might still be hurting after the 13-0 defeat they got from Gulf Coast in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Panthers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
