After a string of three wins, the West Valley Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 75-49 walloping at the hands of University Prep. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat West Valley has suffered against University Prep since May 6, 2021.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Blaze Collins, who scored nine points along with 12 rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Chase Kalnins, who scored 11 points.
University Prep's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Baron Grooms, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Grooms continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Peter Rundle, who scored 15 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
West Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for University Prep, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
West Valley will head out on the road to challenge Yreka at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for University Prep, they will be playing at home against Lassen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lassen is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
