Given Lakota West's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while Fairfield is ranked 205th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Fairfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kimberlin Samples. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Samples has scored all season.
Lakota West is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Fairfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Lakota West will be playing in front of their home fans against Princeton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Princeton will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak. As for Fairfield, they will head out on the road to take on Lakota East at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
