Basketball Recap: Covenant Christian Comes Up Short

If Covenant Christian was feeling good fresh off their 89-34 takedown of Coram Deo Academy last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Covenant Christian Cougars fell 46-36 to the Prince of Peace Eagles on Friday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2021.

When it comes to explaining why Covenant Christian lost, don't look at Max McIlhaney. Despite the final result, he posted seven points along with five boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave McIlhaney a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Aaron Turner, who earned 11 points.

Covenant Christian's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 7-11. As for Prince of Peace, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-15 record this season.

Covenant Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-43 win against Pantego Christian on the 21st. Prince of Peace has also already played their next contest, a 54-44 victory against Legacy Christian Academy on the 21st.
