The Carmichaels Mighty Mikes will head out on the road to face off against the California Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Tuesday, Carmichaels took a serious blow against Waynesburg Central, falling 64-37.
Meanwhile, California had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 74-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bethlehem Center on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jacquese Derns, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. Noah Neil was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Carmichaels' loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for California, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Everything went Carmichaels' way against California when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as Carmichaels made off with a 80-56 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carmichaels since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
