Basketball Recap: Oakland-Craig's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

If Oakland-Craig was feeling good fresh off their 73-40 takedown of Stanton last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Oakland-Craig Knights took a 53-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers. That makes it the first time this season the Knights have let down their home crowd.

Defeat or not, Oakland-Craig got some senior leadership from Braylon Anderson and Isaak Maxwell. Anderson dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards, while Maxwell posted 12 points and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Anderson is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Corbin Guill, who earned nine points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Oakland-Craig smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Oakland-Craig's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-3. As for Bancroft-Rosalie, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Oakland-Craig didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-48 victory against South Sioux City on the 16th. Bancroft-Rosalie has also already played their next match, a 53-51 defeat against Wakefield on the 16th.
