The Milby Buffs will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Sharpstown Apollos at 6:00 p.m. Sharpstown took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Milby, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Milby beat the Yellowjackets 51-41. The win was just what Milby needed coming off of a 81-39 defeat in their prior game.
Milby had a senior duo take command as Jacob Carrizalez scored 14 points along with five rebounds and Daniel Cantu scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kobe Brown, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Sharpstown's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 53-42 to Austin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sharpstown in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost four in a row.
Milby's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-18. As for Sharpstown, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-23 record this season.
Milby might still be hurting after the 51-31 defeat they got from the Apollos in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Sharpstown's Kobe Hines, who scored 22 points along with two steals and two blocks. Now that Milby knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
