3A Eastern Carolina recap Oct. 3, 2012
Triton extended the longest winning streak in 3A Eastern Carolina this week by beating North Lenoir, 54-13. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Hawks.
C.B. Aycock moved up to 187 from 226 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 37-30 win over the Golden Falcons helped the Golden Falcons improve their standing.
C.B. Aycock's dynamic duo of Austin Snowden and Devin Graves proved tough for South Johnston to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Snowden threw for 51 yards and Graves had 43 yards receiving. Dylan Hinnant helped C.B. Aycock's passing attack out by catching one ball for 41 yards.
Brandon McLean made the biggest impact on defense this week as Triton beat the Hawks. The senior recorded two fumbles.
Dedrick Stacker was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 121 yards on 14 carries as Ashley Ennis's team lost to the Trojans. Teammate McLean added to the ground attack by rushing for 69 yards.
The Golden Falcons' Snowden and Hinnant have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 3A Eastern Carolina in both passing and receiving yards. Snowden has thrown for 467 yards this season, while Hinnant, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has five catches for 139 yards. The Hawks' Stacker leads the league in rushing yards with 939.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when C.B. Aycock takes on Cleveland. As it stands, the Golden Falcons are in fourth, while the Rams are in second.
Triton took down North Lenoir 54-13 last week, the largest margin of any game. Stacker in the win.
