It was a good run, but the Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 64-51 to Oxford. Cedar Vale/Dexter was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Oxford apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Leading Oxford to victory were Cordell Jordan and Samuel Wheeler. Jordan scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and six assists, while Wheeler went 8 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 1 assist. Wheeler continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Kellen Green was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Cedar Vale/Dexter's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Oxford, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cedar Vale/Dexter's road trip will continue as they head out to face Caldwell at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Oxford, they will take on South Haven at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
