Chestertown Christian Academy can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They blew past Holly Grove Christian, posting a 55-27 victory at home. Given Chestertown Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Holly Grove Christian is ranked 300th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chestertown Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but John Stoltzfus led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Brian Lloyd was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with four steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Greenwood Mennonite struggled with assists on Thursday (Faith Baptist School had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Greenwood Mennonite took a 61-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Faith Baptist School.
Greenwood Mennonite's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Carter Long, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds, and Jude Harrison who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Harrison scored 15 or more points.
Chestertown Christian Academy pushed their record up to 4-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.33 points. As for Greenwood Mennonite, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Chestertown Christian Academy came up short against Greenwood Mennonite when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 62-52. Can Chestertown Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
