IDEA North Mission's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They took a serious blow against Idea Academy, falling 68-11. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for IDEA North Mission in their matchups with Idea Academy: they've now lost seven in a row.
Idea Academy was led to victory by Juliza Lopez and Layla Perez. Lopez scored 19 points along with nine steals, while Perez dropped a double-double on 29 points and 14 steals. The contest was Perez's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cloe Bernal, who scored seven points along with three steals.
IDEA North Mission's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-2. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 15.5 points per game. As for Idea Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. IDEA North Mission will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off.
