The Trenton Tigers will face off against the Williston Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Trenton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Chiefland as they made off with a 16-1 victory. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on five straight.
Trenton let Olivia Weaver and Presley Akins run wild. Weaver went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Akins earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases.
Meanwhile, while Williston put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Bronson. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 6-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won seven in a row.
Bronson's batters probably weren't too happy with Emily Asencion, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (she gave up five walks).
On the hitting side, Brooklyn Bertrand was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Grace McDaniel was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Trenton's victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Williston, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Trenton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Williston struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Trenton came out on top in a nail-biter against Williston when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
