Basketball Recap: Faith Christian Academy Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

Faith Christian Academy waltzed into their match on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Trinity Christian Tigers 70-43. The Conquerors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.

Faith Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaxon Howard, who posted 18 points along with six assists and four steals. Howard's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Ben Reese, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 15 points and three steals.

Howard wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Faith Christian Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity Christian only posted four assists.

Trinity Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Christian LoPresti, who went 5 of 12 en route to 13 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, and Simon Townsend, who earned ten points. The dominant performance also gave LoPresti a new career-high in blocks (two).

Faith Christian Academy pushed their record up to 14-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 34.7% in those games and 29.1% outside of them. As for Trinity Christian, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-22.

Coming up, Faith Christian Academy will take on New Bern Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Faith Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Trinity Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 49-25 win against Pitt County P on the 8th.
