The Wildwood Wildcats were the 53-0 winner over The Villages Charter Buffalo when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Wildwood was just a hair shy of victory on Friday and fell 17-16 to The Villages Charter.
Lorenza Simmons and Alan Means, Wildwood certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Simmons picked up 118 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Means threw for 183 yards and two touchdowns.
The Villages Charter can attribute much of their success to Maleek Williams, who rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown.
Wildwood has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for The Villages Charter, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wildwood will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Braden River at 7:00 p.m. on October 31st. As for The Villages Charter, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Umatilla at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
