The Elizabethtown Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Bethlehem Eagles/Banshees at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Elizabethtown is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
Elizabethtown barely beat Holy Cross the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Cougars 10-0 on Monday. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.
Alyssa Philpot was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Castaneda, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Elizabethtown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Holy Cross only posted an OBP of .059.
Meanwhile, Bethlehem gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They won by a run and slipped past Green County 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles/Banshees.
Emmalee Hettinger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Bethlehem saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cam Mitchell, who went 2-for-4 with one double.
Elizabethtown's record now sits at 15-8. As for Bethlehem, their record is now 23-15.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Elizabethtown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .335. However, it's not like Bethlehem struggles in that department as they've averaged .362. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Elizabethtown took their win against Bethlehem when the teams last played back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 8-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
