Basketball Game Preview: Doddridge County Bulldogs vs. Webster County Highlanders

The Doddridge County Bulldogs will take on the Webster County Highlanders in a holiday battle at at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Doddridge County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Calhoun to the tune of 80-30 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Payton Trent went supernova for Doddridge County, going 8 for 13 on her way to 18 points. That's the most points Trent has posted since back in January. Kamryn Satterfield was another key player, going 5 for 7 on her way to 13 points.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Webster County over Braxton County in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Webster County blew Braxton County out of the water with a 53-21 final score. The Highlanders pushed the score to 45-16 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles had little chance of recovering from.

Doddridge County pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points per game. As for Webster County, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Doddridge County strolled past Webster County in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 58-43. Will Doddridge County repeat their success, or does Webster County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
