After a string of four wins, the West Forsyth Titans's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell to Southwest Guilford 37-31. While losing is never fun, West Forsyth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Southwest Guilford is ranked 91st).
When it comes to explaining why West Forsyth lost, one person who can't be blamed is Campbell McClain. Despite the final result, she scored six points along with 12 rebounds and five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Hallie Kramer, who scored eight points along with three steals.
West Forsyth's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Southwest Guilford, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
West Forsyth will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against High Point Central at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. High Point Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Southwest Guilford won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against High Point Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Hopefully High Point Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Wednesday.
