The Hastings Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Waverly 58-52. Hastings has struggled against Waverly recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Waverly got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Keaton Rine out in front who scored 17 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rine has scored at least 25% of Waverly's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Axmann, who scored 13 points.
Hastings' defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Waverly, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.
Hastings will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Adams Central. Waverly will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Scottsbluff at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
