It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Moore Haven Terriers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They secured a 55-49 W over Pahokee. For Moore Haven, this counts as revenge for the 37-36 loss Pahokee walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Moore Haven found their leader in underclassman Aaryn Askew, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Askew has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kendavion Holligan, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Pahokee lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Javian Jones, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahtaj Dowdell, who scored 12 points.
Moore Haven has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Pahokee, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 2-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moore Haven will stay at home for another game and welcome East Lee County at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. As for Pahokee, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Atlantic Christian at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Atlantic Christian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
