Basketball Recap: Green River Takes Down Escalante in a Playoff Battle

Green River had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They beat the Escalante Moquis on Thursday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 64-38. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 contests by 23 points or more this season.

Green River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Rolando Anguiano led the charge by shooting 60% from the field to rack up 19 points along with six boards and four blocks. Thanks to that strong game, Anguiano now owns an excellent 40.2% three-point shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Jason Hernandez, who posted 13 points in addition to five assists and five steals.

Green River is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points over those games. Escalante is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-16.

Green River has already played their next game, a 68-57 loss against Wendover on the 28th. Escalante does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
