Softball Game Preview: Morris Central/Edmeston Central vs. Hamilton Emerald Knights

Morris Central/Edmeston Central will square off against the Hamilton Emerald Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Morris Central/Edmeston Central comes in on four and Hamilton on ten.

On Saturday, Morris Central/Edmeston Central was able to grind out a solid win over Laurens Central, taking the game 14-9.

Harper Folts was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby O'Brien, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Ellie Freeth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Freeth wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Eve McCorkle, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Morris Central/Edmeston Central's record now sits at 11-4. As for Hamilton, their record is now 16-2.

Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Morris Central/Edmeston Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Hamilton struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.6 hits.
