Middletown is 9-1 against Catoctin since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Both teams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Middletown knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 18 matchups -- so hopefully Catoctin likes a good challenge.
In what's become a running theme this season, Middletown gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They beat Brunswick by the very same score they won with last week: 65-39. Given Middletown's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Brunswick is ranked 237th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Catoctin, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-49 loss to Linganore on Wednesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Catoctin in their matchups with Linganore: they've now lost five in a row.
Middletown's victory bumped their record up to 17-1. As for Catoctin, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
Middletown was able to grind out a solid victory over Catoctin in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 62-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Middletown since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
