The Geneva Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 20 points or more this season. They blew past Dale County 58-21 at home. Given Geneva's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Dale County is ranked 339th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Geneva can attribute much of their success to Simone Minnifield, who scored 13 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of RayAnna Ausley, who scored nine points.
Geneva's win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Dale County, they bumped their record down to 4-8 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Geneva won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Slocomb at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Dale County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Andalusia at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Andalusia will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
