The Northwood Gladiators kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They suffered a tough 72-49 defeat at the hands of Whitman. Northwood has struggled against Whitman recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Whitman's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sean Curran, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Hayden Walsh was another key contributor, going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 19 points and 2 assists.
Northwood's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Whitman, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Northwood will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Wootton at 7:15 p.m. As for Whitman, they will head out on the road to face off against Wheaton at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
