The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for St. John's Christian Academy in their matchups with Cathedral Academy: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, St. John's Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Kylie Finley scored 11 points. That was a full 40.7% of St. John's Christian Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Jalyn Almeida was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points for Cathedral Academy. Almeida hasn't dropped below 15 points for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Claire Griffin, who scored 12 points.
St. John's Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Cathedral Academy, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. John's Christian Academy will challenge Dorchester Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cathedral Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Andrew Jackson Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Andrew Jackson Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 204th, while Cathedral Academy is ranked 68th).
