The Dieterich Movin Maroons were the 38-36 winner over the Arcola Purple Riders when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Dieterich took a 51-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Arcola on Thursday.
Dieterich lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Miley Britton, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. Britton scored a full 43.6% of Dieterich's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Brittney Niemerg was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Kacie Sisk continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Arcola, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. The matchup was Sisk's 15th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jacey Kessler, who scored 11 points.
Dieterich's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Arcola, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Dieterich will head out on the road to face off against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Dieterich has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road. Arcola will take on Hoopeston at 11:00 a.m. on January 6th. Hoopeston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 457th, while Arcola is ranked 210th).
