Hurricane came into Thursday's game looking for another win against Desert Hills, but Kai James wouldn't allow it. Desert Hills came out on top against Hurricane by a score of 3-1 on Thursday with plenty of help from James, who had 14 digs and five assists. That's the most assists he has posted since March 5th.
Desert Hills had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-17, 25-12, 25-18.
Meanwhile, Snow Canyon came up short against Crimson Cliffs on Thursday and fell 3-1.
While Snow Canyon ultimately came up short, they really made Crimson Cliffs work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 15-25, 25-16, 25-19.
Snow Canyon's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-7. As for Desert Hills, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 9-6.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Desert Hills has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Snow Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
