Palisades is a perfect 10-0 against Westchester since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Dolphins will head out on the road to take on the Comets at 3:00 p.m. Palisades is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Palisades made easy work of Fairfax and carried off a 14-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Dolphins in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won seven in a row.
Maylah Cruz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Amanda Brown and Olivia Stanley did most of the damage at the plate: Brown went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple, while Stanley went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Brown has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brianna Estala, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Palisades was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in three consecutive games.
University hit Westchester with a six-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Comets came up short against the Wildcats, falling 12-2. The Comets have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Palisades' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Westchester, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
Palisades skirted past Westchester 16-15 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Dolphins since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
